Tournament Guidelines as at 2020
POLICY AND PROTOCOL
CARTS POLICY
The following is the policy on the use of carts in New Zealand Senior Golf Association Tournaments:
- The use of carts is allowed for all competitions;
- The use of carts will always be at the discretion of the host club.
- The committee/ executive reserve the right to vary these rules in exceptional circumstances and if these occur a decision will be made with the assistance of the NZ Golf policy on the matter.
SUDDEN DEATH PROTOCOL –Relating to the sudden death of a person on a golf course.
- Immediately contact the club office requesting an ambulance.
- If no reply ring 111 for assistance.
- Apply CPR/ Defibrillator.
- Ensure the person is in a safe and respectful position, covered over.
- Police retain control of the deceased until a VOD* has been completed.
- Verification of death.
- Golf club staff can assist Police to secure possessions of the deceased.
- Police to advise immediate family.
- Selection of funeral service determined by immediate family.
- Depending on the location club may consider closing the area or the course.
- Should circumstances have the deceased brought back to the club house, consider
- the appropriate place for the deceased.
- Depending on the Ethnicity / cultural aspects, consider a blessing/cleansing.
- Trauma, record names of all involved/assisted, follow up on their welfare.
- Local Vet’s delegate to advise regional President, also secretary of the NZVGA, this ensures that if the deceased is a Golf Veteran the wider golf community is informed.
