POLICY AND PROTOCOL

CARTS POLICY

The following is the policy on the use of carts in New Zealand Senior Golf Association Tournaments:

  • The use of carts is allowed for all competitions;
  • The use of carts will always be at the discretion of the host club.
  • The committee/ executive reserve the right to vary these rules in exceptional circumstances and if these occur a decision will be made with the assistance of the NZ Golf policy on the matter.

 

SUDDEN DEATH PROTOCOL  –Relating to the sudden death of a person on a golf course.

  • Immediately contact the club office requesting an ambulance.
  • If no reply ring 111 for assistance.
  • Apply CPR/ Defibrillator.
  • Ensure the person is in a safe and respectful position, covered over.
  • Police retain control of the deceased until a VOD* has been completed.
  • Verification of death.
  • Golf club staff can assist Police to secure possessions of the deceased.
  • Police to advise immediate family.
  • Selection of funeral service determined by immediate family.
  • Depending on the location club may consider closing the area or the course.
  • Should circumstances have the deceased brought back to the club house, consider
  • the appropriate place for the deceased.
  • Depending on the Ethnicity / cultural aspects, consider a blessing/cleansing.
  • Trauma, record names of all involved/assisted, follow up on their welfare.
  • Local Vet’s delegate to advise regional President, also secretary of the NZVGA, this ensures that if the deceased is a Golf Veteran the wider golf community is informed.
